Meet Nectir’s New Chief Operating Officer - Andrew!

Nectir Team

We believe that true innovation happens when passionate people come together to collaborate, share ideas, and challenge the status quo of education technology. Our team is growing, and the people we're adding say a lot about where we're headed.

We're excited to welcome Andrew Bauer to the team as our new COO. He's spent the last 15 years in education operations, doing the work that keeps a young company steady as it grows. He's stayed in the field this long because he cares about who's on the other end of it: the students.

Meet Andrew!

1. Can you share a brief introduction to who you are, your background, and your role at Nectir?

My name is Andrew Bauer, and I have been working with early-stage companies in the education space for the past 15 years. I joined Nectir as COO to help build a strong foundation across finance, operations, and human resources. My hope is to give the team the kind of operational footing that lets everyone do their best work as the company grows.

2. What were you like as a student? Was there a key moment in your educational journey that shaped how you think about learning?

I was a decent student, though honestly not as engaged as I wish I'd been. When I look back at my formal education, I feel disappointed by all of the missed opportunities for interactivity. The feedback loops were slow at best, and often non-existent. When confronting a challenging topic, I remember spinning for hours (or days), whether it was an individual assignment or a group project. Many times, even after submitting our best efforts, we would just receive a grade, without fully understanding which concepts we nailed and which we missed. If Nectir can help address those gaps for today's and tomorrow's students, my hope is we can help raise the bar for education throughout the country and then the world.

3. What pulled you toward edtech specifically, and what made Nectir the right place for you?

I feel grateful to have spent so much of my career working in education, as I think there is nothing more important than the health and well-being of those in their formative years (although I suspect I am still in mine...). I have always looked for organizations that use technology to achieve better outcomes, and Nectir is squarely aligned with that mission.

4. What's a problem in education you're genuinely excited to help solve?

I'd love to be part of using the best technology available to support higher-level learning.

5. What topic are you showing up to a PowerPoint party with?

I've never actually been to a PowerPoint party (do I need to expand my social network??). If I did show up, my slides would probably cover brainstorming homemade, healthy snacks (I love snacking), the wide range of podcasts I'd be listening to while doing it, and maybe a couple of fun spreadsheets on the side. (Hmmmm, maybe that explains why I don't get invited to a ton of parties…)
