John F. Kennedy Catholic Prep brought school-controlled AI to every class, from chemistry to theology, with each AI Assistant grounded in the school's materials and guardrails.
Two priorities: supported teachers and a consistent experience
John F. Kennedy Catholic Preparatory School, a college-preparatory school in Somers, New York, launched Nectir AI in the spring as its first AI platform. Leadership had two priorities: to ensure that teachers felt supported and that every student had a consistent experience.
With hands-on support from the Nectir team, staff and faculty created Nectir AI Assistants to serve as tutors and branded them as "Gael Guides" to reflect how students refer to themselves and to create a school-branded experience. Assistants were rolled out across every class simultaneously, from core subjects to electives and theology. Every Gael Guide follows the same guardrails: to ask guiding questions, never give the answer, and promote independent thinking.
Even when launched in the middle of the spring term, more than 60% of students were using the Gael Guide within five days. That number grew to almost 80% within 15 weeks, with students most commonly using it to generate quizzes and practice tests and to further explain concepts.
